Japanese Counter: 皿 (sara) with Audio

The other day, we went to Kura-Sushi, a conveyer belt sushi restaurant, in our neighborhood. 

先日（せんじつ）、近所（きんじょ）にあるくら寿司に行（い）きました。

 　  

Our daughter is a picky eater and doesn't really like fish. 

わが家（や）の娘（むすめ）は偏食（へんしょく）で、あまり魚（さかな）が好（す）きではありません。

　　　　       

She is not willing to try new foods, either.  

新（あたら）しい食（た）べ物（もの）も拒（こば）みがちです。

　

But surprisingly, she went for salmon roe first and ate it straight away.

が、しかし。なんと初（しょ）っ端（ぱな）からイクラを選（えら）んでパクッと口（くち）に入（い）れたのです。

I could tell she didn't like it because she stopped eating it after the first bite. haha

最初（さいしょ）の一口（ひとくち）のあと食（た）べるのをやめていたので、好（す）きじゃなかったんだなぁとわかりました😅

 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

She couldn't eat the whole plate, but at least she tried to eat something new! I think that's great. 　

結局（けっきょく）一皿（ひとさら）食（た）べ切（き）れなかったですが、少（すく）なくとも新（あたら）しい食（た）べものに挑戦（ちょうせん）したこと。それは素晴（すばら）らしいと思（おも）います。

So, 皿 (sara) is used to count the number of plates of food, including sushi. 🍣
